A Message from the Principal
Dear Parents / Friends,
Welcome to the St. Joseph’s Primary School website. Whether you are an existing parent on an interested onlooker, we hope you find our website is informative and reflective of our school. Throughout this website you will be able to see the many opportunities that are available here at St. Joseph’s from academically, socially and sporting.
As a Catholic school we focus on developing a positive school culture reflecting gospel values. Catholic beliefs are taught and our faith is experienced, witnessed and shared so that we can assist all children in their faith journey. To help achieve this we plan and implement a comprehensive Religious Education program encompassing varied experiences of prayer celebration and liturgy. Our school is an integral part of the St. Mary’s Parish, Finley, and we work very closely with parish priest. Whilst learning about, and living our faith are paramount to us, we also respect other faith traditions. We aim to provide a physical and social setting that is safe, well organised and caring. Values of respect, tolerance and inclusion are promoted throughout the school and all members of our school community are valued and treated with dignity and respect.
'Strive With Hard Work For Good', is not only the school motto, but is lived out by the school community. St. Joseph’s has and continues to have a very dedicated and committed staff, very generous and supportive parents and a priest who assist spiritually and financially to bring the Gospel values to the pupils and the very best education possible.
Learning in the context of a Catholic environment is the central purpose of our school and takes precedence over everything else. High expectations are set for student learning and there is a deep belief and resolve that each child be given the opportunity to achieve to the best of their ability through appropriate and sensitive teaching. Students of our school have a sense of pride and belonging and are engaged and challenged in their learning. Whilst there is a strong focus on the mastery of foundation skills such as reading and numeracy, we also encourage high levels of critical thinking, creativity, higher order thinking, problem solving and collaboration. Students are encouraged to accept responsibility for their own learning and to become life-long learners.
Please feel free to further investigate our website to learn more about our school. If you are a parent looking to possibly enrol a child at our school, do not hesitate to contact us if you have other queries or may even like to come and visit our school for a look around.
