Enrolment

Preparation for School Beginners
The Diocesan Catholic Education Commission of Wagga Wagga recommends that children turn five by 31st April in the year they start school although under certain circumstances, a child who does not turn five until 31st July will be admitted.
Children who are to start school the following year are invited to participate in an orientation program at St Joseph's School in November or early December.

Enrolment Application can be found here

It would be extremely helpful to parents, teachers and the children themselves, if beginners can do the following, unaided, by the time they are ready to commence school:
be able to say own name, address and phone number
know the safest way to and from school. It is important to teach children not to loiter on the way home, visit friends without prior permission, talk to or go anywhere with strangers
tie their own shoe laces or buckle sandles
put on own jumper, coat, hat and do up buttons
to always have a tissue or handkerchief and be able to use them properly
to be able to use a toilet properly and wash hands aferwards
put away play things and materials after using them
to eat sandwiches and lunch from a lunch box
to speak politely
Please make sure children have everything clearly marked with their name on shoes and sandals, lunch box and drink bottle, school bag and all clothing.

Immunisation
The Public Health (Amendment) Act 1992 requires parents to provide documented evidence of a child's immunisation status on enrolment in school.

From 1994, children enrolling in Kindergarten class will be required to provide the school with an Immunisation Certificate.

In the event of an outbreak of a vaccine-preventable disease in a school, unimmunised children will be required to remain at home for the duration of the outbreak, for their own protection.
