Personal Development, Heath and Physical Education
We aim to develop in each student, self esteem, social responsibility and well being, movement skills and personal fitness and the ability to make informed health and lifestyle decisions.At St. Joseph's, Personal Development and Health are integrated into our programs as part of our Inquiry Approach method. Science and Technology, Human Society and the Environment and Personal Development and Health provide the content for our units of study while the key learning areas of English, Mathematics, Creative and Practical Arts and Science and Technology provide the processes through which we learn.
Physical Education is developed through our Friday rotations program and daily fitness. The components of Physical Education are:
Every class incorporates 30 minutes of Physical Fitness each day. This is aimed to improve the overall fitness of students and encourage the development of healthy habits.
Each Friday we have Specialised rotations. These include many areas of study. As part of this all children participate in 45 minutes of Physical Education. During this time the skills, knowledge, values and attitudes of Games and Sports, Gymnastics, Dance and Active Lifestyle are developed.
